Step by Step Application R12 installation on Linux

Hi DBA-Mates,

This document provides the complete installation procedures of R12 Applications installation in Oracle Enterprise Linux 5.5.

REQUIREMENTS

• Oracle Enterprise Linux 5.5.
• Oracle R12 Application Software.

STEP 1: INSTALLATION OF RED-HAT ENTERPRISE LINUX 64 BITS

https://edelivery.oracle.com/linux 

login and download Oracle Enterprise 5.5 (3.9 GB) which Contains the below .iso files :

1. Enterprise –R5-U5-Server-x86_64-disk1.iso (Size 627 MB)

2. Enterprise –R5-U5-Server-x86_64-disk2.iso (Size 621 MB)

3. 1.Enterprise –R5-U5-Server-x86_64-disk3.iso (Size 630 MB)

4. 1.Enterprise –R5-U5-Server-x86_64-disk4.iso (Size 635 MB)

5. 1.Enterprise –R5-U5-Server-x86_64-disk5.iso (Size 625 MB)

6. 1.Enterprise –R5-U5-Server-x86_64-disk1.iso (Size 632 MB)

Write all these ISO files to six different CDs and then label them accordingly.

 Put disk1 in the CD Drive, reboot the system and then follow the steps below.

a)Hit Enter Key .

b)Click Skip to the Next Screen

Click Next.

c)Click Next to continue to choose Language selection

d)Select appropriate keyboard for the system and Click Next.

e)In the Hard disk partitioning selection you can Choose “create custom layout” and 

Click Next to continue

f)Click on Free and then click New button then you will get the following screen.

f1) Create the mount point / and give 10000MB size for that.

f2) Create the mount point /boot and give size 400MB for that.

f3) Create the mount point /tmp and give size 3000MB for that.

f4) Select file system type as swap and allocate 20000Mb for that.

f5) Create the mount point /u01 and select “Fill to maximum allowable size” for that.

g)In boot loader configuration screen don’t configure anything and click next.

h)In the Network configuration select the default and click next.

i)In the time zone screen choose your own time zone and click Next.

j)Then enter your root user’s password and click Next to continue

k)In the software package selection screen choose Customize now and click next then 

you will get following window.

l)Click on Optional Packages button then select all the optional packages for all 

Desktop Environments, Applications, Development…etc.

m)Click next to start the oracle enterprise linux installation.

n)Put CD1 inside the CD drive.

Click continue to continue your installation.

In this screen it will display to insert the disc needed for the installation of enterprise Linux

o)After the completion of CD1 it asks for CD2

Then you have to put the second CD in the CD Drive and then click ok to continue. 

Likewise it asks up to 6 CDs put one by one when it asks and complete the installation.

p)After installing all the CDs the above window will come.

Click reboot.

q)This is the welcome screen the setup agent will guide through some basic configuration. Click Forward button to continue.

r)After that you will be prompted to the License Agreement screen, you just Click Yes, I agree the license Agreement and Click Forward.

s)In the firewall screen select disabled, click Yes in the dialogue box and click Forward to continue.

t)In the SeLinux screen select disabled, click Yes in the dialogue box and click Forward to continue.

u)In the Kdump screen click Forward to continue.

v)In this screen Date and Time will be displayed set Date and Time and click Next.

w)In this screen it asks us to create  the system user we can skip this and create it manually.

x)In the sound card screen click next.

y)In the additional cd screen click Finish.

z)Then you will see the login page.

STEP 2: FTP THE R12 APPLICATION SOFTWARE

a)At first copy ZIP files to the destination and then unzip the files by using the following command

$Unzip  –o  ‘*.zip’  then the files will be unzipped

b)Now  the root user will execute the following commands to start the installation.

# cd startCD

#ls

#cd Disk1

#ls

#cd rapidwiz

#ls

#./rapidwiz

c)After starting the installation the Install Oracle Applications – Welcome screen will be displayed.

d)In this selection wizard screen select install oracle applications 12.1.1 and click next.

e)In this screen provide your email id to be informed of security issues.

f)In this configuration screen select new configuration and click next.

g)In this global system setting check the port setting and click next

h)In this screen Primary Applications Node Configurations verify the directory and 

click next.

i)In this screen node information will be shown and click next.

j)In this screen it will display the system check status

k)This screen displays validate system configuration

l)Click yes to begin the installation.

m)In this screen it displays installation has started.

n)In this screen click Next.

o)In this screen the wizard has completed installation.

Click Finish
